A family of book-lovers
The Baby Elephant continues to be a small and very active little person. She invented a new game yesterday that was a bit of an advance on the old "how many pegs can I cram into Mummy's mouth at once?" game that she still finds hilarious. This one involved a combination of large Duplo (Lego) bits, pegs, dominos, and a lot of giggling. I'm not quite sure what the aim was - I think she was making it up as she went along - but she was obviously having fun. The other interesting thing is that her love of books has progressed from the physical book (holding, touching, opening and shutting) to the stories inside. We've practically memorised Spot's Days Out and Whose Belly?, and she wants them end over end over end..... occasionally leavened by a Thomas the Tank Engine or Hairy Maclary.

I can still remember off by heart all the words to Slinky Malinky - a product of approximately three years of the Hairy MacLary omnibus and rest on a regular basis.
Scary, isn't it. I can't wait until she graduates to something a little more complex, like the proper Thomas the Tank Engine omnibus - we've got the original Railway Series in a lovely edition and they're much more interesting than the tiny kiddy versions she likes now!
