Advent is here

It's the beginning of the Church year today. I always love the fact that Advent falls at the beginning of summer here in NZ - light and life outside and light and life coming with Christ at Christmas.

At our place, our Tree goes up today and the Holy Family and the Magi begin their journeys - we bring out the Nativity set and Mary and Joseph start in one corner of the living room and the Magi in another. Each Sunday we move them closer to the rest of the set (the shepherd, sheep and other animals) - with the Christ-child hidden away until Christmas night.

I might make my first Advent wreath too. (That one in the pic isn't mine...)
