Our church has (or used to have) a group called the Sandwich Group, intended mostly for women "sandwiched between elderly parents and growing children". Although that doesn't entirely describe me right now, the feeling of being a sandwich does. Or, more succinctly, the meat in the sandwich.
Squishing my sandwich at present is the vocation/discernment issue that is currently squeezing out university work (not great as I do have deadlines for that!), and there's a couple of other issues as well that I'm trying really hard to ignore but it isn't working.
